For two years now I wanted to put a post out on Our Lady of Knock on the anniversary of the apparition. This year again, I was overwhelmed with little duties so that it made it impossible for me to finish the post I was working on till now! I refuse to wait another year! So for better or worse here is my little contribution on the message of Our Lady at Knock. Placing these reflections on the Heavenly Vision that took place in 1879, in County Mayo, Ireland in the light of the messages of Our Lady at Fatima.

Using the same principal set forth in a previous post: From Guadelupe to Fatima A Prophetic Mystery. Fatima is undoubtedly the most prophetic of all the modern apparitions over the past 500 years. If we understand the implications of this statement then it will lead us to meditate on each of our Lady's appearances in the light of the Fatima Message.

A CONNECTION with the

HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY

According to Susan Tassone author of several books about the Holy Souls, including major novenas, the marvelous appearance on the gable of the Knock Church came on the day when the parish priest, Archdeacon Cavanagh, finished offering, his 100th consecutive Mass for the suffering souls in purgatory! She wrote that a secret organization resorting to violence had threatened the pastor by letter for preaching against their tactics. They resented his condemnation of violence, which prevented them from gaining recruits in the Knock parish. In his distress, he turned to the suffering souls and called on his parishioners to fill the church for 100 days of these offered Masses. And what an answer he was given from Heaven!" As word spread of the apparitions of Knock miraculous healings also took place (the parish priest recorded 300 in the first three years).

Throughout the church’s history there have been supernatural apparitions and signs which, to the surprise of believers and non-believers alike, play their part in the unfolding of human history. There is a deep significance in each Church approved apparition in its historical context and a deeper hidden significance that may only be discovered through prayer and meditation. Rev. Gallagher wrote in the Knock Shrine Annual in 1938. “The apparition itself explains its own significance, declares its own meaning.”

Over time the church, with the help of the Holy Spirit, reflects on these appearances of Our Lady uncovering the hidden mysteries. Mysteries to be revealed at a latter time when they will be better understood after reflecting on them in the unfolding of history. They are not coincidences! God has a purpose in everything he does. There are mysteries in the timing of the appearances as well as within the historical context of the time religious persecution and famine. Further mysteries are gleaned in the providence of God as history unfolds. And the church looks back and reflects. All things; past, present and future lay open before the eternal gaze of God over man.

Remember that our Lord said to the Apostles: “The helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you.” (John:14: 26) “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth”. (John 16.13). Through the guidance of this same Holy Spirit the church also discovers the finger of God in the events and symbols contained within each church approved Marian apparition.

SIMILARITIES OF KNOCK 
AND FATIMA

On the night of the apparition, those witnessing the apparition knelt for two hours in the pouring rain and prayed the rosary as they watched the vision unfold for over two hours. At Knock the entire area and the witnesses were also soaked from the rain, but the ground around the vision was dry! Fourteen witnesses from 6 years of age to 75 saw the apparition. One other person is documented as having observed the bright light over the church from half a mile away, but did not come to investigate.

Here how I could not help but think of another the similarity with Fatima. All the people who came and prayed the Rosary in the pouring rain as they were waiting for the promised miracle to take place on October 13, 1917. Men and women af all ages and faith experiences witnessed the Miracle. After the Great Miracle of the Sun the people and the ground drenched in rain were completely dry! Also at Fatima the miracle of the Sun was seen from a distance by people up to 70 miles away!

THE GREAT SILENCE OF KNOCK.

There is a deep meaning in silence. There is not enough time to relate all the aspects that surround the silence of Knock. Two people who love each other can sit together for hours and no words are said yet each knows what the other needs or is thinking. We leave to your meditation with the help of the Holy Spirit to uncover the deeper aspects of the Silence of Knock.

But for our purposes, truly here the silence has spoken! I wish to apply the following words from St. Augustine in his Confessions to the silence of the vision of Knock: “You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness. You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness. You breathed your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for you. I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more. You touched me, and I burned for your peace.”

Another example to help explain this line of thought is gleaned from the apparition of Our Lady at LaSallet in 1846. Here there was a very lengthy message given to the seers together and individually. Our Lady at one point seated on a rock representing the church and papacy. Her face buried in her hands, she was weeping. Weeping for the people and the sins of the time. But, is it possible that she also weeping for us? At one point the children noted that as she stood up to leave she turned her face sorrowfully in silence towards Rome. Silence, no further words can be said, they are too painful to be spoken. The silence of the heart of a Mother who sees all the troubles and anxieties that are going to befall the people and the church over the centuries.

Could it be that Our Lady at Knock who already gave a lengthy message at LaSallette just 33 years previous came again in silence with a similar message for a future time in the symbols of the vision? Our Lady was in deep prayer throughout the length of the apparition at Knock. Was she peering for us once more into the future? Pondering all these things and keeping them in her heart? Pondering the past, present and future contemplated by her in the mind of God, yet hidden from us until the proper time. The Message of LaSallette had been given in 1846 and for all aspects understandably not accepted by the church at that time. The reasons are beyond the scope this post and must be left to another time if God wills. The message was ignored because the context was too hard to accept for the times that they were first given. But today looking back sadly….we can see the possible applications for our time.

Maybe our unwillingness to listen to what God has already spoken through the scriptures and his prophets. In previous approved messages from Heaven. God has decided to speak to those who will heed his voice. Those to whom today God wishes to revel his secrets. “I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones. Matthew: 11:25 These little ones who are given the gift to hear his voice in the silence because upon hearing they will obey.

THE FEAST OF THE    
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

The date of the apparition of Knock occurred, August 21, 1879. In 1944, August 21 became the vigil of the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Pope Pius XII placed August 22 on the calendar as the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in response to the requests of Sr. Lucia of Fatima. The feast was moved in the new calendar to follow the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. “Our Lady told Sr. Lucia that God wished to establish in the world devotion to her Immaculate Heart to save souls from hell.” If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.”

THE APPARITION OF KNOCK TOOK PLACE NINE YEARS AFTER THE DECLARATION OF PAPAL INFALLIBILITY APPROXIMATELY 100 YEARS BEFORE THE CLOSING OF THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL. 

Could the apparition of Knock also be an announcement for the upcoming Second Vatican Council? When the Holy Mass and the Blessed Sacraments the greatest treasure of the church came under attack! The Angels who surround the lamb on the altar protecting and defending the assaults that would take place by the powers of Hell on the Holy Mass and the Real Presence of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament!

PROVIDENTIAL DATES LINKING 

KNOCK TO FATIMA

In previous posts we have already indicated that the drama of Fatima could be pointing in time to the upcoming attacks on the papacy, the Holy Mass, and the Blessed Sacrament following the Second Vatican Council. See: The 3rd Secret of Fatima, 1960 and the Crisis in the Priesthood  1960 being the focal point when the secret was to be opened and read. Not earlier Sr. Lucia said it would be better understood then. Looking back we see many Historical Events that took place in the 1960s with regards to the Catholic Church, Fatima and the Conversion of Russia. The escalation of the Vietnam War to stop the spread of Communism; the Civil Rights Movement; the change in culture and the creation of a new counterculture that changed the world. The second Vatican Council opened and closed in the early 1960s and the Berlin Wall was built.

At Knock, the Angels hovered protectively around the lamb on the altar. Adoring what men would no longer adore! No sweet Angelic hymns were heard yet one can hear the thrice Angelic Hymn echoing powerfully throughout the vision ---“Sanctus! Sanctus! Sanctus! Dominus Deus Sabaoth! Holy, Lord God of Power and Might! Pleni Sunt Caeli et terra Gloria tua! Heaven and Earth are full of your Glory! Benedictus que venit in nomine Domini! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Saints have written much better than I meditations on the Angelic Hymn that is recited at every Holy Mass—The Lord God of Power and Might becomes the lamb that was slain! Later at Fatima an Angel taught the children and through them the church to make Eucharistic reparation for all the outrages sacrileges and indifferences by which he is offended in this august Sacrament

St. John was dressed in a bishop’s robe and miter. He had with an open book and was depicted as preaching yet one could not hear what was being said. He represented all bishops who remain faithful to Peter. This thought is especially striking, considering the rich symbolism of the Lamb, the altar, and the cross in this vision, all pointing to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass! It would seem that the vision of Knock was to instill an increase of love and reverence for the Holy Mass! "Be still and see that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, and I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 Much can be said in the meditation of this verse from Psalm 46 in regards to the lamb on the altar!

In the silence of Knock Heaven was giving us an example on how to survive spiritually intact the upcoming upheavals in the wake of the council and attacks on the church. As the time grew closer Our Lord would once more send his Mother to Fatima with an Angel, verbal warnings and instructions and A Great Miracle the greatest supernatural event since Biblical times does not belong to Faith or Science it is an Historical event! This it seems has also has gone unheeded. Prayer of the Rosary everyday and Consecration to her Immaculate Heart with the wearing of the brown scapular as a sign of that consecration. Our Lady's motherly solicitude to the church over the centuries comforts and teaches us that the Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and Obedience to the bishops in union with the Pope are the means for us to live through and survive the assaults of hell on the church in the Holy Mass and the Eucharist. Her presence lets us know she is walking with us to help us if we place ourselves under her protection. Fullfilling the requests of Our Lady at Fatima is the means given by God for the Final Triumph of Good over Evil!

Through the years, the number of pilgrims visiting Our Lady of Knock Shrine has grown. In 1957, the Apparition Church at Knock became an affiliated with the church of the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a Shrine. Three million pilgrims from all over the world visited the Shrine during the 100th Anniversary of the apparition in 1979. Pope John Paul II also came on pilgrimage to Knock Shrine to commemorate the centenary of the Apparitions on September 30, 1979, presenting the Golden Rose to this Shrine. His opening words at Knock were: ‘Here I am at the goal of my journey to Ireland: the Shrine of Our Lady at Knock...I am here then as a pilgrim, a sign of the pilgrim church throughout the world.”

Almost half a million pilgrims gathered at Knock on that day. On this occasion he presented a Golden Rose, to the Shrine of Knock which ranks among the world’s major Marian shrines with the full approval of the Church. Pope Paul VI and Pope Benedict XVI each presented a Golden Rose to the Shrine of Fatima.

Is the Pope a Heretic? Dangers of Charging A Pope with Heresy!

Please read and pray over the 2 articles below before  we decide to  label the Pope a heretic. We need to know what we are talking about before we make accusations. 

My opinion our safest and best course of action is to reserve judgement. The Pope belongs to Christ. He is the only one to judge motives.  We could harm the faith of simple Catholics and contribute to schism. Finally and most important, we also risk putting the salvation of our own soul in danger. 

Unless we are a Cardinal we have no authority, hence no business making judgements if any Pope.  We will have to answer to God for any judgements made that damage the faith if others. 

King  David did not dare when the opportunity presented itself to him to kill Saul who was anointed as King. David  left him to God's providence. We also should do the same, refraining from unleashing the swords of our tongues against the Pope anointed by God to represent Him and lead His Church.

Prudence dictates, if the Pope is out of line the Cardinals are responsible to help make the pope aware of his error.  If it's God's will they will step in or the situation may warrant leaving Him in the hands if God's Providence as David did. 

Reading the articles below they both  indicate that there are no dogmas denied a requisite for a charge of heresy. We as laity need to take care of our own sphere of influence. Our family our work and leave judgement of the Pope to Christ and this who are able to assist the Pope to see any errors. Lets not become part of the problem by making charges on issues we are not educated in and  know nothing about!

We will not be asked on judgement day on the popes possible sins. We will be asked how we helped our families or that homeless guy we pass everyday on our way to work. We will be asked on judgement day if we kept the Pope close to us in prayer! The Fatima message requested this.

The following links are to articles requesting restraint in judgement if the charge of heresy. Their arguments to support  their reasons are legitimate. It is worth reading you are guaranteed to learn a thing or two!

The writers are  Phil Lawler and Jimmy Akin each  give sufficient reasons that are not considered by those who are pushing for the charge of heresy of this pope. You may not care for a certain author for one reason or another. Just consider the truth in the reported  facts in their articles. And above all pray very much for the Pope. May God Bless you!

Well, is the Pope a heretic? I am not qualified to address that question. As a matter of fact, I don’t know who is. St. Robert Bellarmine introduced the possibility (note: he mentioned it as a theoretical possibility, not as an established certainty) that a Pontiff who promoted heresy would forfeit his office. But citing that argument begs the question. Who could make the authoritative judgment that the Pope had fallen into heresy and therefore lost his authority? Certainly not a handful of independent scholars.

Charging A Pope with Heresy

Jimmy Akin is an internationally known author and speaker. As the senior apologist at Catholic Answers, he has more than twenty years of experiencing defending and explaining the Faith. It’s gravely reckless and irresponsible to charge anyone with an ecclesiastical crime as serious as heresy if you can’t prove it, and it’s even worse to do so with regard to the pope, given the scandal, confusion, and risk of individual schism that it will create for the faithful. It’s one thing to ask for clarifications, voice concerns or express disagreement, but making charges of heresy is another matter.

There are multiple problems with the recent Open Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church that charges Pope Francis with heresy, but here we will focus on the core problem: the letter fails to sustain the charge of heresy.

According to the Code of Canon Law, “heresy is the obstinate denial or obstinate doubt after the reception of baptism of some truth which is to be believed by divine and Catholic faith” (CIC 751; cf. CCC 2089).

If you are going to charge anybody (especially the pope) with heresy, you need to prove your case, and this letter doesn’t.

A cursory review of the list of signatories indicates that none have doctorates in the relevant fields of canon law or sacred theology, though a few have licentiates (the equivalent of master’s degrees). None seem to be specialists in ecclesiology—the branch of theology that deals most directly with the Magisterium of the Church—and none seem to have published a book on the Magisterium and how it engages its infallibility.

The signatories of the Open Letter make no attempt to do the needed work. They either do not quote the language used by Church documents or they do not argue that the language they do quote shows that a truth has been infallibly defined as divinely revealed.

A dogma of Faith. 

What Dogma Is

A dogma is a special kind of Church teaching. Any time the Church authoritatively teaches something, it is a doctrine (Latin, doctrina = “teaching”). Within the set of doctrines is a smaller set of teachings that have been infallibly defined by the Magisterium. These are infallible doctrines.

Within the set of infallible doctrines is a smaller set that consists of those infallible teachings that the Magisterium has infallibly defined to be divinely revealed. These are the dogmas.

Note: That just because something is infallible, that doesn’t make it a dogma. The Magisterium has to have infallibly said that it is divinely revealed for that to be the case.

The distinctions between these categories, as well as examples of doctrines that belong to them, are discussed in a 1998 commentary by Joseph Ratzinger and Tarcisio Bertone.

The Open Letter has many other flaws, but its chief one is that it fails to make the case that the present pope is guilty of heresy. To do that, it would need to show the following:

1. The Magisterium has infallibly defined some specific truth
2. It has infallibly defined that this specific truth isdivinely revealed, creating a dogma
3. The pope has been baptized (that’s easy)
4. The pope’s words or actions indicate that he refuses to believe the dogma
5. His words or actions cannot be understood in a way consistent with the dogma
6. He does so obstinately.

Help our Lady Convert Poor Sinners. Pray the nine day Novena to Our Lady of Fatima

Dear Spera Rose;
Leaning on a reflection from Cardinal Burke it is helpful where he depicts the relationship between Our Lord and Our Lady when Jesus performed His first miracle at the Wedding at Cana. Let’s recall Our Lady’s words, “Do whatever he tells you.” These insightful syllables communicate not only her maternal care for her children in need, but they also intimate her sublime intercessory power. She is unmistakably the mediator between God and man, the channel of graces which gush forth from Our Lord’s Just, yet Merciful Heart

To see the the continuity of instruction and intercessory prayer from our Heavenly Mother, fast forward to 1917 where she came to earth with an urgent message for us. With the supplication to “Pray, pray very much, and make sacrifices for sinners…”, Our Lady asked us to make reparation for outrages, sacrileges, and indifference which greatly offend the Sacred Heart of Our Lord, and to pray for peace in the world.

Our Lady gently but gravely reminds us of the truth that as the world cracks beneath the weight of secularism and impurity, so many souls fall like snowflakes into the eternal depths of hell because no one is praying and no one is making sacrifices for them.

And so here we are in the year 2019. I ask you to join me in a Novena of prayer (which will also involve sacrifice!) to Our Lady of Fatima to begin on May 5th and end on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, May 13th.

Over these nine days, we will plead for the conversion of sinners and peace in the world while grasping at the essence of Our Lady’s requests during her apparitions. As we come together in our pleading, we will unveil the mystery of the Three Secrets of Fatima so that we and our loved ones can successfully overcome and defeat Satan along with our vices in this spiritually decrepit culture.

The Message of Fatima was not intended only for the people of 1917. It is still pressingly relevant for you and me today. Along with storming Heaven during our daily Rosary, let’s rise up and fly to the patronage of Our Lady of Fatima.

May 9th Day 5 of Novena to OL Fatima

On Day 5 of our Novena, let’s look at the importance of establishing devotion to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart in the recesses of our hearts and homes as we pray for peace and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart! We struggle daily to keep from being enmeshed in our confused culture. In our preparation for Heaven, we cannot remain neutral in this spiritual warfare. Thankfully, within Our Lady’s heart is a treasure trove of graces. We need only ask for them.

As you and I pray the sixth day of our Novena, we recognize our duty as Catholics to heed Our Lady of Fatima’s request for a Communion of Reparation. Confession, Holy Communion, and praying of the Holy Rosary on five consecutive first Saturdays will aid in healing the wounds inflicted by men which encircle her heart. Through these practices, we also fortify ourselves as soldiers of Christ against the turbulent winds of indifference present in our culture. In return, Our Lady promised to assist us at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for our salvation. As you and I have witnessed, the persecution of Christians is real and ensuing around our very eyes. Around the world, most recently in Sri Lanka, those faithful to Our Lord endure suffering and even martyrdom on account of their Faith. And it is no wonder. We have been clued in by the Third Secret of Fatima that the forces of evil would contend with the forces for good. In this continuous struggle and amidst the bloodshed, Our Lady’s mantle is a sturdy shelter. We must hearken to her urgent requests for prayer and penance!

Under the guidance of Our Lady of Fatima, you and I continue day 8 of our Novena with special regard for the dignity of the priesthood. Priests heal our spiritual wounds in the Sacrament of Confession and nourish our hungry souls with the Holy Eucharist. But they desperately need our prayers if they are to remain faithful. Satan cunningly desires to destroy the Church from within and his plan of attack rests on the clergy. This is evident to us in the wake of the sexual abuse crisis. It is clear that the clergy need our prayers and sacrifices now more than ever!

On the final day of our Novena, you and I can reflect on Our Lady’s message as one of hopefulness, for she promises that in the end her Immaculate Heart will triumph!

And House Democrats, under incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi, slipped language to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business into their bill to end the partial government shutdown. Democrats want to restore the $100 million President Donald Trump took away from Planned Parenthood when he defended its International arm during his first week in office. The Trump policy prohibits taxpayer funding to international groups that promote and/or provide abortions overseas. 

Nancy Pelosi’s daughter Alexandria was interviewed by CNN before she became house speaker when she was asked about her mother's leadership style she didn't mince words: "She’ll cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding, That’s all you need to know about her.”  She continued; “No one ever won betting against Nancy Pelosi. You gotta give her credit. No matter what you think about her, you have to give her credit because, think about it, think about all of those presidents she’s endured. The Bush, the Bush, the Clinton—she’s been through it all.”

The president is made the bad guy by Pelosi and the liberal media outlets who support her anti-life agenda. The president just  wants common sense border security. Sticking their heels in the mud  over his alleged improprieties while remaining silent about the catastrophic advances the pro abortion groups have made since Nancy Pelosi has taken over as Speaker of the House. Life site News is reporting that Nancy Pelosi is to attempting to force Americans to pay for abortions and to funnel taxpayer dollars to the nation’s biggest abortion business. Then another slap in the face to pro-lifers on January 22nd,Anniversary of Roe v Wade New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill a few hours after the state Senate and Assembly passed it. The bill he signed Legalized Abortions Up to Birth for basically any reason in New York state, Rochester City Newspaper reports.

Cuomo also gave Sarah Weddington, the attorney in the Roe v. Wade case, a special seat next to him on Tuesday evening, as abortion activists around them cheered, the AP reports.

A temporary deal was just made to get the Government open for 3 weeks while they negotiate a final budget and the status of the wall. We are not out of the woods! We need committed "Prayer Warriors!" to pray for Our President and Congress throughout his term and into the next election so the demonic anti-life forces will be expelled and we do not become a Communist Nation. We need a Divine Intervention. We need  Our Lady's Help. Heaven will not help us if we do not pray!  Ask our Lady She is the Patroness of the United States.  We will succumb to our very powerful enemies who are waiting to destroy us if we do not humble ourselves in prayer.

America Science testifies that the unborn child is  a member of the human family yet you legislate their murder. If it is not stopped laws will soon be enforced requiring Health Care Workers to murder the sick and the elderly as well. These various anti-life bills will ultimately lead to the suppression of pro-lifers’ freedom of speech and conscience as well. Doctors and nurses who refuse to help abort unborn babies could lose their jobs, and pro-life advocates could be persecuted for just speaking out for life.
