                                         The Eucharistic Miracle

of Lanciano 750 A.D.

The earliest recorded Eucharistic Miracle in 750 A.D. in Lanciano, Italy

was the first in a series of Eucharistic Miracles over the past 2 millenniums. A Monastic priest doubted whether the body of our Lord was truly present in the consecrated host. As he said the words of consecration, he saw the host turn into flesh and the wine turn into blood. Everything was visible to those in attendance. The flesh to this day is still intact and the blood is divided into five unequal parts which together have the same exact weight as each one does separately. 
  
From the very beginning, the local church accepted this miracle as a true sign from heaven, and venerated the Eucharistic Flesh and Blood in processions on its feast day, the last Sunday of October. The fame of the shrine spread throughout the region quickly, and soon all of Italy came to the Church in Pilgrimage.  
 

Scientific Studies

In 1973, the Church gave permission for various studies to be carried out on the Lanciano Eucharistic Miracle.  The results amazed the scientists who were privileged to participate in the studies. After the results were analyzed in 1976. The Medical commissions of WHO and the UN, published in New York and Geneva the following statement: “Science, aware of its limits, has come to a halt, face to face with the impossibility of giving an explanation.”

The flesh and blood of the Lanciano Miracle are just as fresh as if they had been drawn that very day from a living human being.  The flesh consists of muscular tissue of the myocardium (heart).  The heart arteries and veins can be easily identified as well as the double slender branch of the vagus nerve.  Those who have a medical research background would understand the significance of these findings.

The findings of the Linoli Report 413197 stated: “The conservation of the flesh and blood, left in their natural state for twelve centuries and exposed to the influence of atmospheric and biological elements, remain an extraordinary phenomenon.”

  Each of the five clots of blood in the Eucharistic Miracle weigh 15.85 grams. The smallest and the largest in appearance weighed 15.85 grams.  This didn't make sense. In frustration the scientist placed all 5 clots on the scale. When weighed all togethor the total was 15.85 grams. This baffled the scientists who had no explanation for the results!  For those with faith this miracle points to what the Council of Trent taught for centuries and the Catechism of the Catholic Church has reaffirmed. Namely, that Christ is entirely present under each species and under the smallest particle of each species. Christ is present whole and entire his flesh and blood, his body, soul, manhood and Godhead!  

What a testimony our Lord teaches us in this miracle for our times.  This miracle was uncovered in the 1970s exactly the time when some in the church promotes Communion in the hand and lay Eucharistic ministers.  ribute the Eucharist. Not a thought of the white particles of the host they leave in their pyx or allow to fall on the floor.  That small white particle is also the whole Christ  we trample under our feet or sweep up in the vacuum  cleaner.

Other immunological studies received with interest in the scientific world indicated with certitude that the flesh and blood are LIVING human tissue. Both the flesh and coagulated blood belong to the same blood type AB. The same blood type  that was also found on the Shroud of Turin and the type most characteristic of Middle Eastern populations!

Shroud of Turin and the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano  We should also  note that in 1978, a group of scientists from NASA performed an intensive examination on the Shroud of Turin, using all the sophisticated scientific equipment available to our Space Agency at that time.  A very significant discovery was found regarding the blood type on the Shroud. It was AB positive, the same blood type as found in the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano. More and more, science has verified what we have believed in Faith for centurie

Each of the 5 Clots of coagulated blood pictured above weighs 15.85 grams when weighed all together on the scale. And when all the clots are weighed separately, even one smaller in appearance, individually weighed 15.85 grams!

 

Are Miracles Silent Warnings 
in the light of Fatima Message?

The Tilma of Guadelupe,  contained many miracles that  awaited the technology of men to uncover them.  The miracles were always present at the time of its first appearing indicating that God foresaw another time when the lack of faith would be more than a passing doubt by a priest offering Mass! Or the aztec holocausts would later proceed to ABORTION on DEMAND!

The miracles on the Tilma were not discovered until after the Fatima apparitions had taken place. And also the scientific investigations on the Lanciano miracle did not take place until the 1970's.  At Fatima in 1916 an angel teaches the children to Adore and make reparation to the Eucharistic Jesus. Most Hoy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost I adore you profoundly and I offer you the most precious body, blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference's by which he is offended…..”

In 1916 when the angel appeared to the children of Fatima  these crimes against our Lord in the Holy Eucharist were not prevalent as they were in the late 1960’s and 1970’s when Our Lady asked Sr Lucia to reveal the 3rd secret to the Pope.   

In spite of the disrespect of the Eucharist in many Catholic Parishes today the Church herself has  passed many laws for the care of the most Blessed Sacrament. These laws are not what some would say a scrupulous mindset but rather they are a matter of a detail in love. It is my firm belief that if Catholics do not recover the respect for the Holy Eucharist we are fast preparing our own punishment as pictured in the 3rd Secret of Fatima revealed in 2000.

Remember that St Paul said that whoever eats the bread and drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord; and any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself (See 1 Corinthians 11:27, 29).

This can also be applied to all those sacrilegious communions made by those receiving in mortal sin as well as for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist who do not take care to carry Our Lord in a dignified manner and make sure that there are no particles remaining in their pyx so that Jesus is not carried into restrooms or other unspeakable places! You are responsible for every lost particle! And the weight of your commission also falls upon your pastor and bishop who are the ordinary ministers of the Eucharist! They will have to account to God for you!

Finding a Safe Harbor in this Current Time of Apostasy

I received a Homily from a faithful priest that was given this past Sunday, August 26th regarding the current crisis in the church. Prudence dictates that I keep the priest anonymous. His homily is included at the end of this post. 

People need to hear what he has said.  It is best for us to do all that we can during this time of crisis to keep a prayerful peace of soul. Trusting in God to purify and save his church.  

I decided to put on blinders and ignore all the blogosphere gossips and commentaries. One idiot said the church will implode from within.  I didn't read it because I was so 😠 mad!  Even if it appears true it does more harm than good to write about the crisis in this way. The Church belongs to Christ. He will support the pillars! Have Faith. 


When we die and go to meet our JUDGE He will not ask us what did we think about the Pope, or this Cardinal, or that Priest. He will be judging our transgressions against the law. We have to account for our own sins and actions. Did we help the Pope or that priest by our prayers and sacrifices, or did we Judge them? Worse yet, was our Judgement in error and did we spread our erroneous judgements? God will hold you accountable for this. PRAY FOR THEM AND WAIT FOR GOD'S INTERVENTION. These problems cannot be undone WITHOUT A DIVINE INTERVENTION. It will happen our Lady at Fatima said Her Immaculate Heart will Triumph. Do you believe it will happen? I do!  Credo!

We need life jackets to persevere and ride out the raging storms we are passing through. God gave us many warnings of the current crisis. Warnings with instructions on how to successfully pass over the raging waters. The first warnings were given in scriptures, the most relevant is the book of Jude. It is the shortest book of the Bible aptly depicting the current crisis. Read and pray over the book to see how God wants us to live through these days.

Also recall the visions of St John Bosco in the 1840s.  Remember the 2 Columns and the ship, representing the church. The pope was guiding it as it traveled through a fierce storm.   Other ships were bombing it with canons and it almost capsized. Finally seeing two columns in the distance it made its way towards them and found safety and anchored between them. The first column was the Eucharist and the second was Our Lady.  Placing its anchor here the storm could no longer toss them about in this safe harbor. Let each one of us find that safe harbor in the church wirhb the pope.

We must continually work on our own faults and deepen our personal union with Jesus. Taking the speck from our own eyes first so we can see clearly how to help our brethren. Our strength will come from the Eucharist and Our Lady;
Her message at Fatima pleaded for us to:
"Pray, pray very much and make sacrifices for poor sinners! Many souls go to Hell because there is no one to pray and sacrifices for them!"

      Homily by a faithful priest 
      Sunday, August 26, 2018 “If it does not please  you to serve the  Lord, decide today  / whom you will serve.” “Far be  it from us to forsake  the Lord.” –  Words from the first  scripture, the Book of Joshua. The desertion of the disciples of  Christ recounted in this Gospel must have been  a source of great grief to the  Divine  Teacher who  was instructing  them on how  to attain eternal life; but they  would have none  of it. 

This was not the first time God had been spurned and  dismissed by  ungrateful men who want anything else but what God offers them. What is it that fallen humanity  seeks?  Pleasures of the flesh and of the tongue,  having  lots of money, being  held in esteem by  others, having  good looks, being considered  important,  and  having not eternal life hereafter but ongoing life in this world. These are the  base aspirations of many  men–base  even by  human standards, for it might  be that someone would wish to gain knowledge about  many good  things.  That’s  a  far  more noble thing  than those just mentioned. 

There  may also  be  the  desire  to achieve  virtue, that is, to become a  good man, a good woman.  That’s  certainly  a  worthwhile  goal,  and  there  are  a  few  honorable  people  who seek this.  And there  are  other good things that one  might aspire  to: creating art or writing; having  worthy and satisfying employment; mastering  skills in  language, music, sport,  or craft; better  yet: offering oneself  in  service  to  humanity  by  being a teacher,  a physician,  a helper  to  the poor,  the suffering, or the hungry. So then: there are  unworthy, ignoble  human pursuits,  and there are worthy  ones. Yet any  and all of these have  not a penny’s weight to  claim a  reward in  the next life when they’re  done on the  natural  human level. (Saint Paul went so  far  as  to say that giving up all one’s possessions, and even giving up one’s body  to be burned alive, would be devoid of any  value!) On the other hand, even  the most  menial  occupation  (“digging  ditches” was  once  said  to  be among  these)  can  gain  huge dividends in heaven  if  they’re  done in a state  of grace and with  a supernatural intention. All depends on  the  state  of  one’s  soul and  the  reason motivating  the  good deeds. 

Christ’s  followers must live for  God  and have  eternity  as the goal of their whole being. If they’re insincere  about  that  they’re fools  to  be mocked  and  despised.  There’s no gain in  feigning,  pretending, to be Christian: that is, in talking  about being  religious but  contradicting  it by  one’s  deeds and real intentions. The Church is suffering with gaping wounds today  because many  fake  Catholics, fake  priests, and bishops, and cardinals are  being  unmasked and revealed for what they  really  are. And by  “fake” (a term indelibly  entrenched in current  usage  by  President Trump) I  don’t mean that they’re  not legitimately baptized or ordained. I mean rather  that they are  insincere  in their intention to serve God and obey  His commandments.

 There are many  variations of  these phoney  Catholics. There’s the Socialite-Catholic who’s religious only  for outward respectability  by  his  neighbors; there’s the Cultural-Catholic who’s enamored with Catholic literature, history, ceremony, philosophy, or art but not  with its  beliefs and its moral restrictions on conduct; there’s the Professional Catholic who serves on church boards, or  who works in chancery  offices,  or who is otherwise employed by  the Church; most  egregious  of all  are the Professional  Clergy  whose ministry  is  a merely  a job  to  make a  living, and to have  position and prestige  because  of  the  Church,  but who abuse youth, who spend Church monies on themselves, who don’t believe in  the Gospel  and in  the doctrines of the Church and who sell  the  Church  out to  leftists such  as politicians or media personalities who support abortion or gay rights  and who  still  think  they’re  Catholics but are  nothing  of the sort. 

The  quotation from today’ Psalm is apropos  of them: “The  Lord confronts the evildoers to destroy  remembrance of them from the earth.”  We call them  apostates.  Here’s God’s judgment on such people, according to Saint Peter: “it would have  been better for  them  never to have known  the way of justice, than after having known it, to  turn back  (2 Peter 2:21). As our Lord said of Judas, the original apostate, “Woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed: it were  better for him,  had he  never been born” (Mt 26:24). To  see these “convictions”  as divine justice meted out to the deserters, opportunists, and the fakes is only  one side of the  whole picture. There’s also  God’s  side–the grief  of Christ being  forsaken by His own people. The  sufferings our Lord endured to redeem humanity  are  as  far  as  it’s  possible  to go  to win them. There’s  nothing more God could have done  to  save them,  because He  will not save them against their  will.  

The  great mystery  is that there  are  some,  perhaps  many, who  prefer evil  to goodness, darkness to light, sin to grace, salvation to damnation. The  sin  of  apostasy  (leaving  Christ,  or  being  a  religious  fake)  is  an outrage  to our  Redeemer and  is now becoming the  ruination  of the Church.  I’m  sad  for  God!  That may be a simpleton’s clumsy  way of expressing  the would-be  exasperation  of  the  Heart  of  Christ, vulnerable  to the  treason of these deserters, deceivers,  and connivers. Nor should  we exculpate ourselves simply  because our sins or our half-hearted Catholicism are have not been made public knowledge. We too must answer to God for our  sins. There  are  altogether  too many bad things  besetting  the Church and  the good society  of men. It’s too much, too great, approaching  a breaking point

Solutions, however, are readily at hand, as they  have always been: prayer (with some fasting)  for  the conversion  or the ousting  of the fakes and the predators; and striving mightily  to  be very  good and sincere Catholics ourselves. If we  deeply  and honestly  desire  the  glory  of  God,  we  will  remain  true  to  Christ  and  to  the  Catholic  faith  and  refuse to  be  defeated by  the  disheartening  apostasy  and  scandal that’s taking  place. There  is  no alternative way  of  being  Catholic  but  to  believe  wholeheartedly  in  Christ  and  in  the  Church  He  founded, the Church which, as Saint Paul instructs us, is “without spot or wrinkle or  any  such thing...holy  and without blemish.” The Church is the true  spouse of Christ; she’s not a fake in what she  teaches and in what she offers us, and she most assuredly  is not given to  us  to be a pretense  for the wicked and the insincere  to hide behind. We  must  beware  lest  we  ourselves  become  deserters!  (a  temptation  from  hell).  Fidelity,  sincerity, true  devotion:  this  is Catholicism. “Far be  it from us to forsake  the Lord” (words we  heard from the first  lesson). 

We must  not  become  discouraged over  the shocking  apostasy  of this present time, nor should we join in it. There’s  nowhere else  to go  but  to  stay with the  Lord and  with the  authentic  faith of the Catholic Church. Ours ought to be  the words  of Saint  Peter in  this  Gospel:  “Master, to  whom else  shall  we  go?  You  are  the Holy  One of  God.” “Faith of our fathers, holy  faith. We will be true to thee  till death.”

Please pray for this priest and all faithful priests to find the safe harbor between the two pillars of the Eucharist and Our Lady as we wait for the Lord to cleanse His House and right all the wrongs. Oremus pro Inviciem; Let us pray for each other!-Spera Rose

May 13th Fatima and Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament!

May 13th is the anniversary of the First apparition of Our Lady at Fatima. It is also the Feast of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament.  
Our Lord Sent his Holy Mother to Fatima, with his requests for the Church to avert future trials for humanity.  

Our Lord by sending his Holy Mother on the 13th of May is speaking in the unfolding of His Providence on the importance of the Eucharist and the Fatima Message!

St. Peter Julian Emyard

In 1868, Saint Peter Julian Eymard first gave the title Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament to Mary in order to honor her in her relationship to the Holy Eucharist and to place her before us as a model in our duties and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.

 


In 1921 the Sacred Congregation of Rite authorized the Blessed Sacrament Congregations to celebrate each year, on the 13th of May, a "solemn commemoration of the Blessed Virgin," with the intention of honoring Mary under the title of "Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament." This Feast is still celebrated today by all the spiritual sons and daughters of St. Peter Julian Eymard.

Our Lady gives witness in her conduct toward the Blessed Sacrament, we learn from her what ours should be!

 "The Eucharist began at Bethlehem in Mary's arms.  It was she who brought to humanity the Bread for which it was famishing, and which alone can nourish it. She it was who took care of that Bread for us. It was she who nourished the Lamb whose life-giving Flesh we feed upon,"- St. Peter Julian Eymard





It is through Mary, the Mother of the Eucharist that fallen humanity will  find its way back to God. God was pleased to come into the world the first time through this simple handmaid and he will also return triumphant at the end of time through her. Our Lady will lead the Church to a happy union with her Divine Spouse if we choose to obey her requests that come from God. Let us follow these requests at Fatima today tomorrow may be too late!

A Prayer to Our Lady

of the Blessed Sacrament

Virgin Mother Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament you are called  “SPIRITUAL VESSEL” and “VESSEL of HONOR.”  --SINGULAR VESSEL OF DEVOTION--Because you carried Jesus in your body. You are the precious vessel which held him.







I can never be as spotless—as exquisitely beautiful as you are.
Yet I want so much to be his vessel too.   I want to be his ciborium, that through me he may give himself as food—to those who are hungry for Him. –I want to be his monstrance, to show him and my faith in him to everyone I come in contact with. I want to be his “vessel of honor”—and, when I go to the sick—to carry him to them.

But to be a spiritual vessel like you,

--I must first be emptied of self and sin.

Help me my Lady of the Blessed Sacrament to make room for your Jesus in my heart. Help me to fight to keep on fighting against all the evil in me. Will you, at the offertory of every Mass said today, ask Jesus to change the badness in me—into his goodness, as truly as the bread is changed into his Body and Blood?

Ask your Jesus in the host I pray you, to fashion me, mold me form me into a “spiritual vessel”—That I may carry him within me always—wherever I go. Amen

 extend to the Daily Reality of our Lives?

Pope BenedictXVI at the Holy Thursday Chrism Mass   criticized dissent from church teachings as illegitimate pathways toward reform and renewal. In the presence of  1,600 priests, bishops and cardinals, the pope cautioned against calls for women’s ordination, saying such campaigns seemed more “a desperate push” to fulfill one’s own preferences rather than a sincere attempt to conform one’s life more closely to Christ. The pope said he wanted to use the occasion to ask all priests, including himself, to meditate upon what their consecration really means.

Do we operate as men of God in fellowship with Jesus Christ? This question places the Lord before us and us before him. “Are you resolved to be more united with the Lord Jesus and more closely conformed to him, denying yourselves and confirming those promises about sacred duties towards Christ’s Church which, prompted by love of him, you willingly and joyfully pledged on the day of your priestly ordination? We need,  I (also) need, not to claim my life as my own, but to place it at the disposal of another – of Christ. I should be asking not what I stand to gain, but what I can give for him and for others. Or to put it more specifically, this configuration to Christ, who came not to be served but to serve, who does not take, but rather gives – what form does it take in the often dramatic situation of the Church today.

  

           

A Priests Concern should always 

be for the Salvation of Souls!

We are concerned with the salvation of men and women in body and soul. Zelus animarum leads to salus animarum.  No one should ever have the impression that we work conscientiously when on duty, but before and after hours we belong only to ourselves. A priest never belongs to himself. People must sense our zeal,  through which we bear credible witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us ask the Lord to fill us with joy in his message, so that we may serve his truth and his love with joyful zeal.

A Priests Near Death Experience 
Changes His Life!

While reading the Comments and various news reports of the Pope's address to the Priests on Holy Thursday. I recalled a program I saw on Mother Angelica Live in the late 1980’s about a priest who had a near death experience and how it changed his life.  Fr. Steven Scheier was involved in an accident in 1985 while traveling back to his parish. He had a head-on collision with a pickup truck and with Jesus who had condemned him to Hell.

Fr. Scheier was standing before the judgment of Jesus. He doesn’t know how long it lasted. He says the Lord took him through his entire life, and showed him every incident how he had failed in his priestly service. Before the accident he was thinking there would be time to convert but during his judgment scene, Jesus told him there is no more time. He said he knew he was talking to Truth and when you are talking to Truth you can’t give excuses. At the end of his judgment, his sentence from Jesus was hell. Fr. Scheier said “yes” as that was the only logical thing he deserved.  However, because of his devotion to Our Lady, (he was saying Hail Mary’s aloud as he was dying and then recovering) He was favored by God to have another chance.   At that moment, he heard a woman’s voice say, “Son, will you please spare his life and his eternal soul?” 

The Lord replied, “Mother, he’s been a priest for 12 years for himself and not for me, let him reap the punishment he deserves.” “But Son,’ she said, ‘if we give him special graces and strengths . . . then let’s see if he bears fruit; if not, your will be done.” There was very short pause, after which Jesus said, “Mother, he’s yours.”

I hope by including his story in this post it will help someone to save their own soul.  We so easily put blinders upon our eyes and excuse ourselves from grave faults. Bishops, priests and laity take advantage of the time God has given you today to serve Him!  Pray to God that he will show us the truth about ourselves today! It is not guaranteed we shall see tomorrow!

 A priest for himself not for Me!

Father survived the accident but did not recall his near death experience until he was fully recovered and returned to his parish ministry. One day when celebrating Mass, the Gospel was about the fig tree (Luke 13:1-9).     When he was reading the Parable of the Fig Tree the words leapt off the page to him, especially the order to cut down the fig tree but getting a reprieve of one more year to bear fruit. As he read the Gospel he recalled his near death experience.  He finished Mass as best he could and back at the rectory

The Pope mentions a group of Austrian Priests' Calling for Disobedience

Recently a group of priests from Austria issued a summons to disobedience, and at the same time gave concrete examples of the forms this disobedience might take, even to the point of disregarding definitive decisions of the Church’s Magisterium, such as the question of women’s ordination, for which Blessed Pope John Paul II stated irrevocably that the Church has received no authority from the Lord. Is disobedience a path of renewal for the Church?

We would like to believe that the authors of this summons are motivated by concern for the Church, that they are convinced that the slow pace of institutions has to be overcome by drastic measures, in order to open up new paths and to bring the Church up to date. But is disobedience  really a way to do this? Do we sense here anything of that configuration to Christ which is the precondition for true renewal, or do we merely sense a desperate push to do something to change the Church in accordance with one’s own preferences and ideas?

Surely Christ himself corrected human traditions which threatened to stifle the word and the will of God? Indeed he did, so as to rekindle obedience to the true will of God, to his ever enduring word. His concern was for true obedience, as opposed to human caprice. He lived out his task with obedience and humility all the way to the Cross, and so gave credibility to his mission. Not my will, but thine be done: these words reveal to us the Son, in his humility and his divinity, and they show us the true path."

Priests at the Holy Thursday Mass

Lord Jesus, you have chosen your priests from among us and sent them out to proclaim your word and to act in your name. For so great a gift to your Church, we give you thanks. We ask you to fill them with the fire of your love, that their ministry may reveal your presence in the Church. Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that your power may shine out through their weakness. In their afflictions let them never be crushed in their doubts never despair; in temptation never be destroyed; in persecution never abandoned. Inspire them through prayer to live each day the mystery of your dying and rising. In times of weakness send them your Spirit, and help them to praise your heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners. By the same Holy Spirit put your words on their lips and your love in their hearts, to bring good news to the poor and healing to the brokenhearted. And may the gift of Mary your mother, to the disciple whom you loved, be your gift to every priest. Grant that she who formed you in her human image, may form them in your divine image, by the power of your Spirit. Amen

The Priestly Blessing is an Epiphany for those with faith!

 A Meditation on 

the Priestly Blessing

I have always believed in the special graces received when one is privileged to receive the Blessings of a priest. In the beginning of my spiritual journey, (early 1980),  I was given a flyer titled simply “Jesus speaks of his Blessings to Theresa Neumann, Stigmatist of Konnereuth”,  at that time she was not well known in America. Some of the photos of her I saw in a book that I came across later were very graphic, and for a beginner in the spiritual life unsettling.  I decided not to use any of the graphic photos here because it is not the purpose of this post to dwell on the sensational mystical phenomenon.  

Rather, I hope for us to meditate on The Priestly Blessing as another Epiphany, a manifestation of Christ for those who see like the Magi with the eyes of faith. The Magi were inspired by signs in the heavens to follow the star that announced a newborn King. Once they arrived it was faith that revealed the God Man behind the infant lying in the manger. It is our faith that will reveal the Divinity behind “The Blessing” given by the priest today. Seeing the Priest as an alter Christus when he bestows “The Blessings”, After Mass, during Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and when the faithful request a blessing from him.

Having said all that, I was happy to finally learn that the cause for beatification Teresa Neumann was introduced. A petition asking for her beatification was signed by 40,000 people, and in 2005, Gerhard Ludwig Müller, Bishop of Regensburg, formally opened the Vatican proceedings for her beatification.   I shy away from apparitions that do not have the full approval of the church and  now I could share with others this Meditation on the Priestly Blessing. That really enriched my own spiritual life.

 

When I came across these words of Jesus to the Stigmatist Teresa Neumann after reading it I was in awe of the priest and the graces he confers with his blessing.   I always tried not to miss an opportunity  to ask for “The Blessing” when I was in the presence of a priest.  A Blessing as an act of charity for myself, for the priest and those in the room with me.  An act of charity to remind the priest of the dignity of his state. I think after you read the words Jesus is said to have spoken to Teresa Neumann you also will have a greater appreciation of the Priestly Blessing and request it more often from your priests. And, if you’re a priest I hope you will freely give your blessing as an act of charity and mercy for your people.

How many poor priests do not realize the power they have in their identification with Christ. If they really believed the power behind the words: “May the Blessing of almighty God descend upon you and remain with you forever! They would not stop offering “The Blessing” to help the souls God has placed in their charge. 'The Blessing' have great powers over the spirit of darkness, THEY dispel and limit the attacks of the evil spirit around them in their parish and in the world! 

We commonly call "The Blessing" his blessing. We most often ask when we desire a blessing from the priest: “Father Will you give me your blessing?” It is Christ’s Blessing, Jesus  is blessing us  through the priest. An EPIPHANY for those who see with the eyes of faith. This Epiphany also takes places during Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament and when we attend Mass and receive Holy Communion.  It is Christ who offers and Christ who we receive and at the end Christ who gives "THE BLESSING" The graces bestowed on us are given according to the devotion of the receiver So it is with the each “Blessing.” we are privileged to receive by the priest. 

How many priests today send Blessings to their parishioners after they say their Divine Office or before going to sleep at night? How many priests even say the Divine Office?  I sat next to a bishop on an airplane once and I was filled with joy as I observed him bless the city we were departing from and again he also blessed the city that we arrived in before we landed. How many priests bestow these graces upon the world? How blessed a person is who belongs to a parish whose pastor realizes his dignity as an alter Christus and lives it. God please grant us many Holy Priests give them this light to lead deeper spiritual lives. May the following meditation aide us to rediscover the Power the Priest has when he confers The Blessing!

Jesus Speaks of His Blessing

(To Teresa Neuman Stigmatist)

"My dear Child, I wish to teach you to receive My Blessing with fervor. Realize that something vast takes place when you receive the Blessing of my Priest. The Blessing is an outpouring of My Divine holiness. Open your soul and let it become holy through the Blessing. The Blessing is a heavenly dew for the soul, through which all that is done can be made fruitful….Through the power to bless, I have given the priest the power to open the treasury of My Heart and to pour out from It the 'rain' of graces on souls. When the priest blesses, I bless. Then a vast stream of graces from My Sacred Heart flows into a soul to its fullest capacity. By recollection, keep your heart open, in order not to lose the benefit of the Blessing. Through My Blessing, you receive the grace to love, strength to endure suffering, and assistance for body and soul."

 

It is a great privilege when you

are permitted to receive 
the Blessing!"

"My holy Blessing contains all help for the necessities of mankind. Through the Blessing you are given the strength and desire to seek good, to shun evil, and to enjoy the protection of My children against the powers of darkness. It is a great privilege when you are permitted to receive the Blessing. You cannot comprehend how much mercy I extend through it to you. Therefore, never receive the Blessing in a  matter-of-fact or thoughtless way. As poor as you are before receiving the Blessing, you are rich after receiving it." 

"I regret that the Blessing of the Church is so little prized and so seldom received"

"I regret that the Blessing of the Church is so little prized and so seldom received. Your good will is strengthened through the Blessing, your undertakings receive My special Providence, your weakness is overcome by my power, your thoughts and intentions are spiritualized, and all bad influences neutralized…I have given My Blessing vast power. It proceeds from the unending love of My Sacred Heart. The greater the zeal with which the Blessing is given and received, the greater its efficacy,"

"It is all the Same Whether One 
or Many Receive the Blessing"

"Whether a child is blessed or the whole world simultaneously, the Blessing is far greater than a thousand worlds. Reflect that God is immense - infinitely immense. How small are all things in comparison to Him! It is all the same whether one or many receive the Blessing. This does not matter, for I give to each according to the measure of his or her confidence (or faith). Since I am infinitely rich in all good, you are permitted to receive without measure. You cannot hope too much from my Blessing; all will exceed your fondest expectations."

"Esteem highly what has been blessed; then you will please Me, your God. As often as you are blessed, you are united closer to Me, sanctified anew, healed with, and protected with the love of My Sacred Heart. Often I keep hidden the workings of My Blessing so that it is known only in eternity. Often it appears that Blessings have no results. But wonderful are the workings of the Blessing - even the seemingly fruitless results are a blessing in disguise through the holy Blessing. These are often mysteries of My Providence, which I do not wish to manifest."

"Therefore, have great confidence in this outpouring of My Sacred Heart, and reflect earnestly on this favor to you (that the apparent results are hidden from you)…Receive the holy Blessing sincerely, for the graces of the Blessing find entrance only into a humble heart. Receive it with a good will and with the intention to become better; then will the Blessing penetrate to the depths of your heart and will produce its effects."

Short Bio Teresa Neumann

Teresa Neuman has attained today a place in popular piety. Born on Good Friday in 1892, an act of Divine Providence showing forth the future mission the Lord would give to her. She died on September 18, 1962. The decade in which the 3^rd secret of Fatima was asked to be revealed and at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis. On September 11, 1962, In a speech to the UN, Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko warns that an American attack on Cuba could mean war with the Soviet Union.

During the Third Reich, Therese Neumann was the target of ridicule and defamation, as the Nazis knew about her dissenting views and feared her growing popularity. She was observed by the Gestapo. She was never physically harmed, though her family home, parish church and priest's house all received direct attacks. She encouraged Fritz Gerlich to continue his opposition to Hitler and his national-socialist party. Gerlich was subsequently killed for his opposition.

At the age of 20 she was in an accident and became blind and paralyzed. She received a miraculous healing in 1923 through prayers to St. Therese of Lisieux. Since this time Theresa has not eaten any foods or liquids except for one small consecrated wafer a day. [Her total fast lasted from the age of twenty-five until her passing away, thirty-nine years later] On September 18, 1962, from Cardiac Arrest.   The stigmata, or sacred wounds of Christ, began to appear on her head, heart, hands and feet every Friday while she experienced the passion of Christ.

Paramahansa Yogananda visited her and wrote about her case in his book Autobiography of a Yogi, published in 1946. He wrote an entire chapter, Therese Neumann, The Catholic Stigmatist of Bavaria, which reverently gives a vivid first-hand description of one of her Friday Passion trances. He wrote of her: "I realized at once that her strange life is intended by God to reassure all Christians of the historical authenticity of Jesus' life and crucifixion as recorded in the New Testament, and to dramatically display the ever-living bond between the Galilean Master and his devotees."

Theresa, was once asked if America will experience war on its soil, "No, but at the end of this century America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters." Friends, Could this be a consequence of America turning away from God and the Commandments?
