Christians are going to suffer in America. Maybe we aren't feeling it yet; but it will come. And when it does come we will have a choice to make. We can choose to stand with God, our Faith, and our conscience, or, we have have the ability to choose, to turn our backs and go "forward" by allowing through our apathy legislation that is increasingly anti-God, anti-life, and anti-Christian. 

Remember in Luke Jesus answering some present in the crowd at that time who told Him about the Galileans who were slaughtered and Pilate had mixed their blood with their sacrifices. "Do you think that these Galileans were sinners above all the men of Galilee, because they suffered such things? No, I say to you: but unless you also do penance, you shall all likewise perish. Luke 13: 2-3 Let's fight a spiritual war with spiritual weapons. "An evil spirit of this kind is only driven out by prayer and fasting." Matthew 17:21 Mark 9:29 

Fatima on World Peace

The recent escalation of violence in the Middle East should be a warning and awaken us all to return and honor the requests of Our Lady at Fatima for Peace in the World "Say the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world. And after each decade say the following prayer: 'O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of Thy mercy.'"

To the Immaculate Conception

Most holy Virgin, who pleased our Lord and became his mother, Virgin Immaculate in your body and soul, in your body and soul, in your faith and love, at this solemn jubilee of the promulgation of the dogma which proclaimed you to the entire world as conceived without sin, look kindly on us unfortunate ones who implore your powerful protection. The infernal serpent, upon whom the primeval curse was laid, continues, alas, to attack and tempt the hapless children of Eve. Ah! Do you, our blessed Mother, our Queen and Advocate, who at the first moment of your conception did crush the enemy's head, do you gather together our prayers and we beseech you (our hearts one with yours) present them before God's throne, that we may never allow ourselves to be caught in the snares laid for us, but that we may reach the portal of salvation, and that the Church and Christian society may once more chant the hymn of deliverance, of victory and of peace. The Fatima message is a call for men to give up sinful practices which grieve God and draw down His chastisements on the world, and to make reparation for them. Commenting on Our Lady's request for penance, Sr. Lucia wrote: "The part of the last apparition which has remained most deeply imprinted on my heart is the prayer of our heavenly Mother begging us not to offend any more Almighty God, Who is already grievously  offended "

 Jacinta shortly before her death remarked:  
"If men only knew what eternity is, how they would make all possible efforts to amend their lives . . . mortification and sacrifice give great pleasure to Our Divine Lord."

Before Jacinta left to the hospital she said to Lucia: "In a short time now I am going to heaven. You are to stay here and say  to everyone that God wishes to establish in the world the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. . . . Tell everybody that God grants graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and that they must ask them from her. Tell them that the Heart of Jesus wishes that by His side should be venerated the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tell them to ask peace through the Immaculate Heart of Mary; God has placed it in her hands. Oh that I could put into the heart of everybody the flame that I feel burning within my breast and which makes me love so much the Heart of Jesus and the Heart of Mary."

The earliest reference I found to thirteen being unlucky or evil is from the Babylonian Code of Hammurabi (circa 1780 B.C.E.), where the thirteenth law is omitted although some translations contain a thirteenth law. The number 13 was always associated with bad luck. With similar folkloric aspects of the number 13 noted in various cultures around the world. Most stemming from pagan worship. I tried to find out the reason why and discovered that numbers 13 and 21 were significant to witches and occult numerology for numerous reasons. This is not the purpose of this post to detail it here. One can also do a search and come up with a lot of pagan and occult material in reference to the number.

However it is interesting to note that the fear of the number 13 is so prevalent it has been given its own name: Triskaidekaphobia (from Greek tris meaning "3," kai meaning "and," and deka meaning "10") fear of the number 13; it is a superstition and related to a specific fear of Friday the 13th.

The history of the modern fear of the number 13 likely originated in France in the 1300’s and was spread all over the world by French immigrants, who heard of the events in Paris concerning the banishment, arresting and outlawing of all Knights Templar on Friday the 13th of October, in the year 1307.

A three fold curse was given by the last grand knight, who was finally executed on Friday the 13th of March, 1314. As he died he cursed Pope Clemence V, the King of France, Philip IV, and the Prime Minister to the 13th generation. The Parisians thought that this prediction was also valid for them and therefore the fear for number 13 and Friday the 13th started to expand out over the world.

Another interesting connection in the occult concerns the Tarot Card. The 13th Tarot card is the card of Death and is pictured as a skeleton (the symbol of death) with a scythe reaping down men. This image later became known as “The Grim Reaper” I also discovered that the lluminati has also adopted 13 as a sacred number. Other references have to do with numerology and would take up to much space to detail it here.

I wish to briefly mention that over time as Christianity spread the knowledge of the black arts was thankfully forgotten but the fear of the number 13 stayed in man’s consciousness without them realizing why. Friday the 13th was considered an unlucky day because Friday was the day of the Lords death and there were thirteen participants at the Last Supper. Tradition states that Judas Iscariot the disciple, who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.

With the resurgence of pagan religions witchcraft and satanic rituals in our culture. Heaven is telling us that God will have the the final say. Our Lord promised Peter "On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against her" It doesn't mean that there will not be an attempt they will but they will not prevail. He will turn the tables on Satan and his deceptive minions through the Woman Clothed in the Sun with the moon under her feet and upon her head a crown of 12 stars.

I believe this is why that God choose to send his Mother on the 13th day of each month at Fatima. This event in Divine Providence of the Fatim a Message delivers a Message of hope. Our Lady will conquer the entire pagan Goddess Worship the devil spewed out when he realized God was going to use a Woman to defeat him. How about it the number 13 for 1 God in 3 divine persons? God  will purify and reclaim number 13 as a sacred number through Our Lady of Fatima.

Let us also remeber that the star on Our Lady of Fatima's dress was a symbol identifying Our Lady as Esther in the book of Esther. This also has a significant message for our time in reflecting on what God is speaking to us in Divine providence in light of this book in the bible. 

It was on the 13th day of the 12th month that the Jews were to be destroyed and Queen Esther was instrumental in having the King rescind the verdict saving the Jews from annihilation. I believe Our Lady will do this for us today if we join our prayers and fastings. She will intervene with God to prevent our destruction. The gates of Hell will not prevail. 

As if to seal this message the last Fatima visionary was called home on the 13th day of February.  It was not a coincidence the timing of the death of Lucia. This act of Divine providence is a Message from the finger of God writing on the wall  in the providential events. Are we listening? Can we comprhend the writing on the wall and act while there is still time?

Our Lady was Catechist at Fatima

Catechesis is instruction aimed at deepening the life of faith and conversion to Christ. In the words of the General Catechetical Directory, catechetics "is intended to make men's faith become living, conscious and active, through the light of instruction.  Ideally speaking, in areas where a Christian culture continues to operate, children are evangelized by their parents at home. The parents develop the child's growth in faith through catechesis. This instruction is then supplemented by the Church's catechetical and pre-sacramental programs. 

Having said that:  if the parents themselves are defectively evangelized or not evangelized at all, they are unprepared for catechetical teaching. The instruction will be senseless if the catechized person, in turn, is un-prepared to live the Christian life to set a living example in the home to supplement what the church is teaching their children in their Catechism programs.

Tertullian in the first Christian centuries stated: "Christians are not born. They are made." The Church has always understood the absolute necessity of evangelizing and catechizing young children. This is the parents duty for their children.  Our Lady's appearance at Fatima  preceded by the angel in 1916, teaches  parents how to teach their children  working with the the graces God has given them.  Parents must help their  children by teaching them how to practice the virtues. Charity, mercy, prudence justice, fortitude, temperance, humility to overcome the capital sins of pride greed, lust, anger, sloth, envy, and gluttony. The virtues need to be taught to children as Our Lady and the Angel did to the shepherds of Fatima. This is how future vocations are formed in the homes by the example of the parents.

How many parents coddle and pamper their children, never teaching these little souls entrusted to them by God the importance of prayer and sacrifice and the consequences of sin.  We greatly underestimate the capacity of children for prayer and sacrifice! When children are taught by example they are generous in their response to the good. Very often the children's unreserved "offering of self" far surpasses the half-hearted offering of adults, who are overly imbued with self-love and attachment to material wealth, prestige, security, and comfortable living.  

Rev. Joseph Pelletier, in his book The Sun Danced At Fatima. p. 30, reported that on May 13, 1917  in Moscow a sizable group of children and their catechist were brutally slaughtered by the agents of Lenin as a catechetical lesson was in progress in a Catholic Church. This vicious attack on the Church graphically symbolizes the forces in the modern world that seek to silence the proclamation of the Word of God—especially to the young. On that very day, maybe at the very hour of the diabolical slaughter of these innocents in Russia, Mary, the Mother of God, came visibly into our world. This time she came to three young, illiterate children in Portugal and began a series of catechetical instructions for the children and, through them, for the entire Church.

Our Lady a model Catechist did not spare Little Children; only 6, 8, & 9 years old a frightful vision Hell!

 

As Our Lady spoke to them she opened her lovely hands, disclosing beneath a sea of fire; and plunged in this fire were the demons and the souls, as if they were red-hot coals, transparent and black or bronze colored; with human forms, which floated about in the conflagration, borne by the flames which issued from it with great clouds of smoke, falling on all sides as sparks fall in great conflagrations -- without weight or equilibrium, among shrieks and groans of sorrow and despair which horrify and cause to shudder with fear. The devils were distinguished by horrible and loathsome forms of animals frightful and unknown, but transparent like black coals that have turned red-hot.

 Think of that! Through this frightful vision the children were taught the consequences due to sin. That souls who sin and are not repentant will end up on fire burning there for all eternity. "Here you have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go," she said at length. "To save them God wishes to establish in the world the devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If they do what I will tell you, many souls will be saved, and there will be peace.

Granted our Children our not fortified with a special grace to see Hell like the children of Fatima.  Having said that however, we  have an obligation to teach our children the reality of Heaven, Hell and purgatory. Many moms think Hell is to scary to teach young children in order to prepare them to make good choices for Heaven. Yet these same moms have no qualms to take them or let them watch to the latest thriller movie.  

Our Lady came to Fatima to combat the atheism, rebellion and materialism of the modern world. She came from God to save souls from unbelief, sin and ultimately from hellfire. She came, begging all believers to join Christ in his work of redemption by living faith-filled and holy lives.

But the Blessed Virgin Mary is not only a pattern; she is a perfect model of what every catechist in the Catholic Church should be. We say that Mary is the perfect model of what every Catholic catechist should be. In saying this, we affirm what may not be obvious—that Mary was a catechist. She did instruct others in the one, true Faith. And she did it so admirably that we may legitimately call her the Mother of Catechists What are we saying here? We are saying two things: A catechist instructs others, which means teaches others by enlightening the mind to inspire the will.
