AN ACT OF MERCY FOR THOSE DYING ALONE FROM COVID-19 St. Jacinta of Fatima also died all alone in a pandemic

Sts. Jacinta and Francisco died in the 1918 Pandemic

Did you know  Sts. Jacinta  and Francisco died in the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic that swept through Europe. In October 1918, Jacinta told Lucia that Our Lady had appeared to her and promised to take Francisco  and her to heaven soon. Both lingered for many months, insisting on walking to church to make Eucharistic devotions and prostrating themselves to pray for hours kneeling with their heads on the ground as they said the prayer that the angel had instructed them to do.

Francisco declined hospital treatment on April 3, 1919, he died at home the next day.
After the death of Francisco Jacinta told Lucia that our Lady came to her and asked her if she wanted to convert more poor dinners. She said yes she did. Our Lady said she would be going to a hospital in Lisbon soon where she would suffer very much and die all alone. This thought resonated in her loving heart the fact that once she left home she would never see her parents or Lucia again. This she said is what hurt her the most.

In an attempt to save her life, which she insisted was futile, Jacinta was moved to Ourém Hospital; her condition steadily worsened and, in a successful attempt to transfer her to the children's hospital in Lisbon, Queen Stephanie's Hospital  she was moved first to the care of the small Orphanage of Our Lady of Miracles, in the Lisbon neighborhood of Estrela. She developed purulent pleurisy  and endured an operation in which two of her ribs were removed. Because of the condition of her heart, she could not be fully anesthetized, and suffered terrible pain, which she said would help to convert many sinners.

ST. JACINTA OF FATIMA ALSO DIED ALL ALONE
100 YEARS AGO IN THE LAST PANDEMIC
On February 19, 1920, Jacinta asked the hospital chaplain who heard her confession to bring her Holy Communion and administer Extreme Unction because she was going to die "the next night". He told her that her condition was not that serious and that he would return the next day. The next day Jacinta was dead; she had died, as she had often said she would, all alone.
I aways thought Heaven was harsh on our young victim soul. She was a mere babe nine years old. To suffer the physical pains as she did and then to die without the consoling presence of her family could be viewed by some as heartless. Similar to what God asked of Abraham in sacrificing his son. Why did Jacinta have to die alone without her family and the  last sacrament Viaticum?

ANOTHER PROPHETIC SIGN
One hundred years later in the unfolding of Divine Providence the reasons are more clear. St. Jacinta was also chosen to suffer for our time along with Bl. Mother Mariana of Ecuador Mystic and stigmatist (1594-1634) and Marie Julie Jaheney Breton mystic and stigmatist. (1850-1941). Each of these apparitions had a common thread. The evils of atheistic communism. The advance of secret societies such as the Masons and the ultimate Triumph of the Church through the Immaculate Heart of Mary where a time of peace will be given  to mankind.
Our Lady foresaw this pandemic and  warning for the people of our erea and asked if Jacinta was willing to die alone without the consolations offered by her family and the Church. In today's current pandemic scientists understand the ferocious capabilites of the transmissions of this  virus and to protect others  we have to isolate the sick. During the 1918 Flu pandemic that claimed the lives of Jacinta and Francisco this knowledge was not well understood.

Having said all of this I think it is very important that we look once again at the Fatima Message in historical context. Meditating in the light of past approved apoaritins of our Lady. Our Lady of Good Success Message for our time! 1594-1634

BENEDICT XVI AT FATIMA
Celebrating Mass at Fatima, on May 13th 2010 Pope Benedict XVI said the prophetic mission of Mary's apparitions there has not ended and has special relevance for a world still caught in a "cycle of death and terror." Benedict XVI continued: "We would be mistaken to think that Fatima's prophetic mission is complete. From the earliest times humanity has succeeded in unleashing a cycle of death
and terror, but failed in bringing it to an end. Fatima's message and mission are not over because the need for penance and conversion in the world continues" -Benedict XVI , May 13, 2010 at Fatima
Let us meditate on the importance  on the prophetic messages of Fatima place and meditate on them in light of all the approved Apparitions in the unfolding of Divine Providence. From Our Lady if Good Success to Akita a prophetic Mystery is unfolding.
The sick of today should be encouraged by the brave witness of St. Jacinta and call upon her intercession for a cure or the acceptance of God's will for a happy death using the generous indulgences offered by the church for the salvation of the dying who are dying alone and without the consolation of the last sacraments of the church. The church has not abandoned you in union with  the communion of saints you will be assisted if you accept in faith and sorrow for your sins God's will. Following the lead of St. Jacinta who prayed and suffered for all of us poor sinners.
NO ONE DIES ALONE PROJECT
An Act of Mercy for the dying
from Fr. Philip a priest from Ireland
In the meantime a priest from Ireland has spearheaded a WORK OF MERCY FOR THE DYING AND IS INVITING all to perform an acts of mercy for the dying around the world... those who are dying and have no one be with and pray for them in their last agony.
“No One dies alone Project”  inspired by Fr. Philip a priest from Ireland. Read more below.
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/priest-calls-for-spiritual-adoption-of-victims-dying-alone-from-coronavirus
Everyone in the Catholic World should consider performing
this act of mercy for the countless souls dying each day from COVID-19. It could be one of us or a member of ourfamily who are at hospital and we cannot be present to help them or they for us.
I hope all of you will consider adopting this daily spiritual act of Mercy for the dying during the course of this pandemic. Fr Philip said:
"If families were to pray the Chaplet of Mercy togethor then several dying persons would be spiritually adopted with the one prayer of the Chaplet. Praying the Chaplet for the dying, we will petition Jesus to enfold them in his Merciful Love in their final hours and grant them a strong experience of his consoling presence before they take their leave of this world. -Fr. Philip
No One Dies Alone Project
Earlier this evening I was reading a news report on the SkyNews website which, quoting a doctor in a hospital in Italy, had the headline: “Everyone Dies Alone”.  It was a very sobering and tragically sad report, describing how, because they have to be isolated, those suffering and slowly dying from Covid19 meet their end without the comfort and consolation of their relatives and loved ones.

The medical staff do what they can, but they are overwhelmed by the task that lies before them. When I read that headline, immediately I was stirred to begin this little project.
Inspired by a scene in the Diary of St. Faustina, where she was spiritually transported by the Lord in order to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at the bedside of a dying man she did not know, I would like to suggest that we would each commit to praying the
Divine Mercy Chaplet each day for the days ahead to spiritually place ourselves beside one of the poor unfortunate men and women who are dying alone in hospitals all over the world because of this virus, some of whom are perhaps not well prepared spiritually for their earthly end.

If families were to pray it then several dying persons would be spiritually adopted with the one prayer of the Chaplet.
Praying the Chaplet for the dying, we will petition Jesus to enfold them in his Merciful Love in their final hours and grant them a strong experience of his consoling presence before they take their leave of this life.  This would be a great act of mercy and love for those who are victims of this virus and who are approaching their end.

Please consider taking part in this project.  There is no need to sign up to anything.  It is a simple movement which, please God, will bear enormous fruit for the souls for whom we pray. I would appreciate it if you were to pass this on to others you know who might be willing to take up this spiritual work of mercy.  In the final weeks of Lent it would be a good spiritual practice to incorporate into our prayer routine.  Below you will find the link to the Sky News Report
Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,
Fr. Philip

In 1920, shortly before her death at age nine, St. Jacinta Marto reportedly discussed the Alliance of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary put with a then 12-year-old Lúcia dos Santos and said:

"When you are able to say this, (tell the secret) don't go and hide. Tell everybody that God grants us graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary; that people are to ask her for them; and that the Heart of Jesus wants the Immaculate Heart of Mary to be venerated at his side. Tell them also to pray to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for peace, since God entrusted the pesce of the world to her."

Let us humbly turn to to Our Lady and Sts. Jacinta and Francisco imploring their intercession for the dying and a cure for the Corona Virus.

I think its important tthat we place the Fatima Message and meditate on the messsge in light of  approved prophetic messages of the Church. The ones mentioned as well as Guadalupe. LaSalette, Knock, Akita.  The devils are trying to drown the authentic realties of the approved Marian apparitions by raising up dissenting voices that work outside the authority of the church promoting their own agendas. They offer alternate realities even using new apparitions that do not have full church approval. Fatima has been buried as no longer relevant because of these newest apparitions that do not carry full church approvals. The Fatima Message is ignored
"People will tell you  Look. There He is or He is here. Do not go out or chase after them." Matthew: 24: 23
STAY WITH THE CHURCH AND THE MAGISTERIUM.
“Pray, pray much, and sacrifice for sinners, for many souls go to hell because there is no one to sacrifice and pray for them.-Our Lady, August 19, 1917

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Pray for us
St. Jacinta and Francisco, Pray for us.
Servant of God, Sr. Lucia of Fatima, Pray for us

They must amend their lives and ask forgiveness for their sins. Let them offend Our Lord no more for He is already  very much offended.” Our Lady – October 13, 1917

From Guadelupe to Fatima a Prophetic Mystery

The First in a Series of Modern Apparitions
 over the past  500 Years

Fatima is undoubtedly the most prophetic of all the modern apparitions over the past 500 years. If we understand the implications of this statement then it will lead us to meditate on each of our Lady's appearances in the light of the Fatima Message.

Over time the church with the help of the Holy Spirit reflects on these appearances of Our Lady uncovering these hidden mysteries. She discovers God’s finger writing a story within the symbols contained in these Marian events. They are not coincidences! God has a purpose in everything he does. A message to proclaim in the timing of the appearances as well as within the historical context of these Marian events meditated on in the Light of Fatima.

Our Lady of Guadalupe 1531
The first apparition of Modern Times

A mystery is hidden within each  approved Marian Apparition outside of their historical significance that can, need we say must, be learned through prayer and meditation. Throughout history there have been supernatural apparitions and signs which, to the surprise of believers and non-believers alike, play their part in the unfolding of human history.

Guadalupe is considered to be the greatest place of pilgrimage in the world after Rome.  As well as the first apparition which established a sanctuary of influence, national and worldwide.  It was estimated that in 2009 more than 6.1 million pilgrims visited the Basilica of Guadalupe on December 11-12  marking the 478th anniversary of the apparitions  of the Virgin to Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac.

Guadelupe is one of the most significant  of the approved Marian apparitions in the Church rich with symbolisms. The symbolism's on the tilma. although primarily directed to Juan and the Aztec people of the time,  are speaking, or rather shouting, to us in our modern era.

They echo without words or sound in modern time. A prophetic marker for our era.  The imprint of Mary on the tilma speaks to us prophetically in a  manner as the scriptures. Speaking in the language of the Holy Spirit. The drama around the Tilma also gives witness during the course of the apparition. The events between our Lady, Juan, the bishop and Juan’s uncle. Later in the witness Juan Diego gave with his life after Our Lady appeared. All of these give testimony!

Guadalupe linked to Fatima as
the book of Daniel is linked
with Revelation or Apocalypse.

Daniel is considered by biblical scholars to be the apocalyptic book of the Hebrew bible, the first apocalypse.  A  Divine revelation concerning things to come. Preparing the way for its sister book Revelations. After Daniel received his visions he was instructed by the Angel with these words:

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, knowledge shall be increased. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand Daniel,12:9-10

If Guadalupe is on the same historical plane with the Book of Daniel it  is also pointing to a future messianic event since Jesus already appeared it has to be the return of the bridegroom for its church the second coming of the Lord.  Fatima is alongside the book of Revelation and is preparing the church for the return of her bridegroom at the end of time. Recall how Our Lord told the   apostles in John Chapter 16:12-13

“I have many more things to say to you,
but you cannot bear them now
But when He, the Spirit of truth comes,
He will guide you into all the truth;
for He will not speak on His own initiative,
whatever He hears, He will speak; and will
disclose you to you what is to come." John 16:12-13

We know that in the interpretation of scriptures there is a historical significance that the writers were inspired to write for. Later, as the church reflects on these events in the unfolding of human history we see a foreshadowing of future messianic times in the writings of the ancient prophets. The mysteries are hidden in the timing of the event or in the actions and words that are spoke by the persons involved in the drama being recorded.

This same principal may be
applied to supernatural events
in all Approved Apparitions

Contemporary men are in some sense blinded to reading these signs and symbols. Outside of our own neglect to pray and meditate, another reason for modern mans failure to penetrate these unspoken mysteries in Marian Apparitions could be that the interpretations may be sealed until the time appointed as in the book of Daniel.  Take Fatima for instance. As we examine the secret of Fatima it was revealed slowly by degrees over time and not completely disclosed until the year 2000. And the symbolisms contained within the recently revealed portions of the secret are also prophetic in nature pointing to a possible future calamity or apocalypse if men do not stop offending God. The Message of Fatima also predicted that if the requests at Fatima are not honored, many souls will be lost, "the Holy Father will have much to suffer", there will be further wars and persecutions of the Church and "various nations will be annihilated." The annihilation of nations predicted at Fatima has not yet occurred, but many fear that it will soon happen, given the growing immorality and corruption of the world.

Symbolisms linking
Guadalupe to Fatima and our era: Culture of Life vs. Culture
of Death
Five centuries ago, cruel human sacrificing rituals were performed by the Aztecs on a scale never approached, even remotely, by any other peoples. Men, Women and Children, were offered to appease their serpent gods. No one will ever know how many were killed this way. Estimates start from 20,000 to 50,000 a year in several sources. The leading authority on the demography of Mexico at the time of the conquest, has revised the estimated number of persons sacrificed in central Mexico in the fifteenth century to 250,000 per year and an early Mexican historian Ixtlilxochitl estimated that one out of every five children in Mexico were sacrificed. Click for more details on the Aztec Sacrifices

These ritual killings peaked around 1487 during dedication of their new serpents temple in Mexico City. A single ceremony lasted four days and four nights, with the constant beating of giant drums made of snakeskin that could be heard for two miles. More than 80,000 men were sacrificed. No where else in human history had the ancient serpent, Satan so formalized his worship with so many of his symbols. When Our Lady appeared to Juan Deigo she called herself Guadalupe. The word Guadalupe similar to the Aztec Nahuatl word of coatlaxopeuh pronounced "quatlasupe" sounds like Guadalupe. The Nahuatal word of coatlaxopeuh is translated Coa = serpent, tla="the” and xopeuh= “to crush or stamp out. So Our Lady called herself the one "who crushes the serpent. The Aztecs understood this and hearing her name while viewing the Image she left behind they converted by the millions to the faith. Certainly, in this case our Lady crushed the serpent. So it is not surprising that for the Christian one cannot help but identify Our Lady of Guadalupe with the Woman of the Apocalypse. This interpretation was first recorded by Father Miguel Sanchez in 1648.

"A great sign appeared in the sky,
a woman clothed with the sun,
the moon at her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars." Revelation 12:1

The following description of the symbolism's contained within the Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe and how she spoke to the Aztecs without words is related by a Fr. Elizondo who writes: "Mary appears as a beautiful young Indian maiden with a look of love, compassion, and humility, her hands folded in prayer. Her pale red dress is that of an Aztec princess. Her blue mantle symbolized the royalty of the gods, and the blue color symbolized life and unity. The stars on the mantle signified the beginning of a new civilization. Mary stands in front of and hides the sun, but the rays of the sun still appear around her, signifying she is greater than the sun god, the greatest of the native divinities, but the rays of the sun still bring light. Twelve rays of the sun surround her face and head. She stands on the moon, supported by an angel with wings like an eagle: to the Aztec, this indicated her superiority to the moon god, the god of night, and her divine, regal nature. Most important are the two crosses and the black maternity band that were present in the image. Mary wore a black maternity band, signifying she was with child. At the center of the picture is found an Indian cross, the center of the cosmic order to the Indian. This symbol indicated that the baby Mary carried within her, Jesus Christ, the Word made Flesh, is the new center of the universe. On the brooch around her neck was a black Christian cross, indicating she is both a bearer and follower of Christ, the Son of God, and our Savior, who died on the Cross to save mankind.  Mary wore a black maternity band, signifying she was with child. Providence of God in
The Unfolding of Time
The Stars on Our Lady's Mantle
Scientists were also amazed to discover that the pattern of stars on the mantle of  the tilma reflected the exact position of the constellations on the day her image appeared on the tilma, December 12, 1531,10:40 am The Boreal Crown is located above the Virgin's head,Virgo is on her chest, in the region of her hands; Leo is on her womb; Gemini the twins are in the region of her knees and Orion is located on the Angel at her feet. Go to the following link for detailed explanations on the New discoveries on the Tilma and more diagrams on the constellations reflected on the Tilma. Heaven does nothing by chance!

The Aztecs recognized this and It was a great sign for them who followed the passing of time with the stars. It is also a sign for our era giving another historical date for the apparition even the exact time! Could it also be a marker for a future time? Has this same lineup of stars occurred since? Will it take place again?

Other miracles present on Tilma
Discovered after Fatima
Miracles within A Miracle
Linking Guadalupe for Our Generation

There were other miracles also present on the tilma  that would not be discovered for another 400 years!  In 1929 images reflected in the eyes of the Virgin were discovered for the first time. To think that this miracle within the eyes of the Virgin was present for all these centuries just waiting to be discovered and were not discovered until after the Fatima drama began. What am I saying here? That God is also speaking to us through his line of providence in the various Marian Apparitions.  God also knew that he was already known by God and in a sense reawakens Guadalupe and links it to the drama of Fatima.

In more recent times with the appearance of modern photographic technology and advances in the science of opthomalolgy images reflected in the eyes of the Virgin were discovered in 1929 we have the first documented note of an apparent reflected image of a man's head in the right eye of the virgin by photographer Alfonso Marcue who was advised to keep silent by the bishop.

The Mystery of Our Lady's Eyes

It has been said by pilgrims
 that it appears
that the eyes on the tilma are living!
Our Lady is actually seeing you
When you come before her image
She looks at you with a mothers love!

The photo shows the bearded man
Juan Diego on the right corner
discovered in 1929, 1956 and 1958.
The dark circle shows all the people present
discovered in 1979 under high magnification.

It wasn't until 1951 when another photographer Carlos Salinas examined the tilma and he observed the same reflection of a man’s head in the right eye of the Virgin. In 1956 and 1958, Dr. Torroela-Bueno and Dr. Rafael Torija-Lavoignet, both ophthalmologists examined the eyes of the Virgin on the tilma and published a study on the Purkinje-Sanson effect that is found in living human eyes. In 1979 another ophthalmologist Dr. Jose Aste Tonsmann used the latest sophisticated image processing techniques taking digitized photographs of both eyes he enlarged the image of the Virgin's eyes by 2500x magnification and said he saw not only the aforementioned single figure, but rather images of all the witnesses present when the tilma was shown to the Bishop in 1531.  Click on the following link for more Details on the Mysteries in Our Lady's eyes . Mary came in her glorified body at Guadalupe and her physical hands rearranged the roses in Juan Diego’s tilma, which makes this apparition so special like Miraculous medal apparition when St. Catherine Laboure put her hands on Mary’s lap who was sitting in a chair. An incredible list of miracles, cures and interventions are attributed to Our Lady of Guadalupe. It has been widely recognized for centuries that the preservation of the tilma is miraculous since it has maintained its integrity for nearly 500 years when similar garments normally last only about 15 years before suffering damage.

Guadalupe and Fatima reflect
Our Lady in Revelation 12:1-6

And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars: And being with child, she cried travailing in birth, and was in pain to be delivered. And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns: and on his head seven diadems: And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered; that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod: and her son was taken up to God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God, that there they should feed her a thousand two hundred sixty days. Revelaton:12:1-6

For the evil one and for his followers there is not much that they hate and fear more than the image of the Woman clothed with the sun the moon under her feet. This Image was shown to them before the whole creation was completed, and triggered their final rebellion and fall. This image of the one who will crush his head. But we also have a part to play in this drama, St Paul taught this when he exclaimed that we must fill up what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ. We must help our Lady with our prayers and sacrifices that she requested at Fatima. The outcome is up to us and what we choose to do with what we know.

At Guadalupe Our Lady was hiding the sun only it's rays penetrated around her. At Fatima in the 3rd secret during the miracle of the sun she reflected a light brighter than the sun and this light from our Lady prevented the Angel of God's wrath from chastising the earth with the flames from his sword.

There are prophetic meanings to be gleaned here. Heaven does nothing by accident. If Our Lady is prefigured in these appearances as the woman clothed with the sun in the book of Revelations she is also then the Queen of prophets. As our Lord came into the world for the first time through Mary. He will also come his second time through her. Mary the Queen of Prophets will prepare the world for his final coming at the end of time. Is this not what is happening today at Fatima and other approved Marian Sites?

What have we learned in 500 Years
from Guadalupe to Fatima?

Granted in examining the apparitions of our Lady over the years there exists a certain correlation between Marian apparitions and specific historical situations of the times. For example Lourdes and the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. La Sallette and the approaching famine. Fatima and the World Wars.  Our Lady the spouse of the Holy Spirit is sent to convey a message from the finger of God to help us see the writing on the wall.  With sometimes a dire warnings in the book of Daniel Chapter 5: Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand in fear as it wrote: "This is the inscription that was written: Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin. "This is what these words mean: Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians." Daniel 5:26-28

Our Lady spouse of the Holy Spirit is the Hand of God conveying a message to the world powers  and the kingdoms of our era. "Some I will cure others I will not. They must amend their lives and ask forgiveness for their sins." Looking very sad, Our Lady said: "Do not offend the Lord our God any more, because He is already so much offended." Fatima October 13,1917

Do we think we will not see the justice of God if we continue on in our sins? If God allowed the Jewish nation to be scattered throughout the world and their temple destroyed because they did not recognize the time of their visitation.  Do we think we can continue to disregard the warnings from Heaven to ammend our lives and not have consequences to pay?

In future posts we hope to detail the conditional prophecies at Fatima if the requests of Our Lady are not heeded.

Our Lady said that Russia would "spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and various nations will be annihilated.

There is not enough time to go into each apparition in order to glean the prophetic message from each one and apply them for these times. The Holy Spirit if invoked will unveil the hidden mysteries  and demonstrate their significance or connection to the Fatima Message and the Woman Clothed with the Sun in Revelation.

If the Apparition of Guadalupe resulted in the conversion of an entire Aztec native population from the worship of idols and human sacrifice to Christianity. Could we not hope for no less with the appearance of Our Lady at Fatima? We can and we should. She did say that in the end her Immaculate Heart will Triumph. If we follow the simple request God has asked of us from her we will see The Triumph of her Immaculate Heart and Victory over this culture of death? -Let us hope!

The Pope Blessing Sick @ Fatima Joins Our Lady in inviting them to be Redeemers in the Son with Her.

"The sacrifice required of every person is the fulfillment of his duties in life and the observance of my law!"  Jesus to Sr. Lucia

The Pope calls all to be Redeemers in the Son with Mary. Repeating  the Heart of the Fatima Message given by Our Lady's in her first visit on May 13 to the three shepherds.  She asked them this question; "Will you offer yourselves to God, and bear all the sufferings He sends you? In atonement for all the sins that offend Him? And for the conversion of sinners?"  The children replied; "Yes, we are willing."  Our Lady continued; "Than you will suffer much but the grace of God will be your comfort."  In this first question to the children Our Lady is also asking each of us through them the same question.

It was in this same spirit that the Angel spoke to the children in 1916 preparing them for this moment: "Offer up everything in your power as a sacrifice to the Lord in reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners . . . More than all else, accept and bear with resignation the sufferings that God may send you."

After the apparitions ended Sr. Lucia explained "Many persons feeling that the word penance implies great austerities, and not feeling that they have the strength for great sacrifices, become discouraged and continue a life of lukewarmness and sin."  Then she said Our Lord explained to her: "The sacrifice required of every person is the fulfillment of his duties in life and the observance of My law. This is the penance that I now seek and require."

The pope's message to the sick teaches us all the ways that we can be Redeemers with the Redeemer and by doing so we are answering Our Lady's call at Fatima. This is the call of the Gospel message. To imitate St Paul and the Apostles, to fill up in our flesh with our individual afflictions what is left in the sufferings of Christ, for the sake of his body, which is the church. Colossians 1:24

God will not go against the free will of man. He invites  Our Lady asked the children if they were willing to suffer for poor sinners. She also asks us the same question through them. What is your answer to the Call of Fatima?  The Call to penance and reparation.

The Pope Giving Benediction

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Who Are Sick

Before I walk among you carrying the monstrance containing Jesus present in the Eucharist, I would like to offer you a word of encouragement and hope, a word which I extend to all those following us on television and radio, and to those without even such means, but who are united to us by the deeper bonds of the Spirit, that is, in faith and prayer.

Suffering which is lived

with Jesus assists in

The Salvation of Souls.

My dear brother and sister, in the eyes of God you are “worth so much to God that he himself became man in order to suffer with man in an utterly real way — in flesh and blood — as is revealed to us in the account of Jesus's Passion. Hence in all human suffering we are joined by one who experiences and carries that suffering with us; hence con-solatio is present in all suffering, the consolation of God's compassionate love — and so the star of hope rises” (Spe Salvi, 39). With such hope in your heart, you can leave behind the quicksand of illness and death and stand on the firm rock of divine love. In other words, you can overcome the feeling of the uselessness of suffering which consumes a person from within and makes him feel a burden to those around him when, in reality, suffering which is lived with Jesus assists in the salvation of your brethren.

As you embrace Your Cross

the Salvific Meaning of

Suffering will be Revealed

How is this possible? Because the spring of divine power rises in the midst of human weakness. This is the paradox of the Gospel. Therefore, the divine Master, instead of explaining the reasons for suffering, preferred to call everyone to follow him, saying: Take up your cross and follow me (cf. Mk 8:34). Come with me. With your suffering, take part in the work of salvation which is realized through my suffering, by means of my cross. As you gradually embrace your own cross, uniting yourself spiritually to my cross, the salvific meaning of suffering will be revealed to you. In suffering, you will discover an interior peace and even spiritual joy.

You will become redeemers

with the Redeemer

Dear friends who are sick, welcome the call of Jesus who will shortly pass among you in the Most Blessed Sacrament, and entrust to him every setback and pain that you face, so that they become - according to his design – a means of redemption for the whole world. You will be redeemers with the Redeemer, just as you are sons in the Son. At the cross… stands the mother of Jesus, our mother.
 Greetings for English Pilgrims

I welcome the English-speaking pilgrims present today who have come from near and far. As we offer our fervent prayers to our Lady of Fátima, I encourage you to ask her to intercede for the needs of the Church throughout the world. I cordially invoke God’s blessing upon all of you, and in a particular way upon the young and those who are sick.

The Lord, our great hope, is with us. In his merciful love, he offers a future to his people: a future of communion with himself!...God seeks righteous men and women in order to save the city of man and he does the same here, in Fatima...Our Lady asks: “Do you want to offer yourselves to God, to endure all the sufferings which he will send you, in an act of reparation for the sins by which he is offended and of supplication for the conversion of sinners?” May the seven years which separate us from the centenary of the apparitions hasten the fulfilment of the prophecy of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity.

Fatima a Message centered on Prayer, Penance and Conversion, that is Projected Beyond the Threats, Dangers and Horrors of History, Inviting Mankind to Trust in the Action of God!

In His Wednesday General Audience on May 19, 2010 the Pope Benedict XVI summarized his apostolic journey to Fatima. A touching experience rich with Many spiritual gifts was how the Holy Father described his recent trip to Portugal! He said that the Mass at the Fatima Shrine on May 13 with over 500,000 people was the culmination of his visit and the almost palpable presence of the Virgin Mary is present there with an atmosphere of authentic mysticism that characterizes the city.

The images of this unforgettable trip, the warm and spontaneous welcome and the enthusiasm of the people remain fixed in my mind and heart, I give praise to the Lord because Mary, appearing to the three shepherd children, opened in the world a privileged space to find the divine mercy that heals and saves. A message centered on prayer, on penance and conversion, that is projected beyond the threats, dangers and horrors of history, inviting mankind to trust in the action of God, to cultivate great hope, to experience the grace of the Lord so as to fall in love with Him, source of all love and peace."

In Fatima, the Blessed Virgin invites everyone to regard earth as the place of our pilgrimage to our final homeland, which is heaven. We are all pilgrims and we all need our Mother who guides us. “With you (Mary) we walk in Hope, Wisdom and Mission was the motto of my apostolic trip to Portugal, and in Fatima the Blessed Virgin Mary invites us to walk with great hope, letting ourselves be guided by ‘the wisdom from above,’ which was revealed in Jesus -- the wisdom of love.

Pope Benedict also said that for the duration of his four days in the nation he felt "spiritually sustained" by his "beloved predecessor," Venerable John Paul II. The late Pope had gone to Fatima three times during his pontificate, giving thanks to Our Lady particularly for the "'invisible hand' that freed him from death" during the assassination attempt in 1981.

The Holy Father ended with a request for the people to join him in prayer: “Let us also pray that, through the intercession of Mary Most Holy, the Holy Spirit may render this apostolic trip fruitful, and enliven in the whole world the Church’s mission, founded by Christ to announce to all peoples the Gospel of truth, peace and love.”  Read more...
